As the financial burden continues to mount for organisations as a result of employee stress related illness, lost time due to absenteeism and litigation, organisations must re-evaluate their existing programs and introduce strategies that are aimed directly at addressing the problems at the source.

Did you know that you could go to jail as a result of the way you behave in the workplace?

In Victoria, workplace bullies will face up to 10 years in jail under changes to stalking laws to be introduced to the State Parliament. The Victorian State Government has now introduced some of the toughest anti-bullying laws in the country and it will not be long before the rest of the country follows suit. This legislation is intended to send a very clear message that bullying and devaluing behaviour toward others is a serious crime that carries a serious jail term.

You may have provided  your staff with information about your workplace policies but do they understand them?

Having policies and procedures in place in relation to the occupational health and safety of your employees is a great start but it's not going to be effective if people do not have a clear understanding of the types of behaviour that can land them behind bars because it is damaging to the health and wellbeing of another.

All Workplaces in Australia are invited to join a national initiative to improve the way we treat one another in the workplace.
